Mr. Andong Yu has been assigned as an honor professor by Tongji University.

Honor president of XYP Design & Technology Ltd., honor president of Tongji Alumni Association, honor senior engineer of Hochtief (Germany), senior adviser of Overseas Expert Consultative Committee of Overseas Chinese Affairs Office of The State Council ¨C Andong Yu has been assigned as an honor professor of Tongji University; the engage ceremony was held on 21^st. Mar. 2008. The letter of appointment which has been signed by the president of Tongji University- Gang Wan, has been granted to professor Yu by Guoqiang Li - the vise president of Tongji Uni. Professor of the Civil Engineering Department ¨C Xianglin Gu took charge of the ceremony. During the ceremony professor Yu presented his academic report of the current steel construction status in China and the prospect of energy conservation of the steel structural residential building. Academician Zunyan Shen highly recognized professor Yu¡¯s report and succeeds works. Professor Yu will join the work in the Steel Construction Research Center, professor Yu will co-operate with academician Haifan Xiang and Lichu Fan for other projects also.

Professor Yu has worked for the Uni. for 30-years after his graduation in 1955, in the year of 1988 appointed as a full professor by the Uni. After professor Yu has settled in Germany after 1989, he is retaining a well interactive with Tongji Uni. and joined the process of establishing the Tongji Alumni Association in Germany. Since 1996 professor has been assigned as a part-time professor by Lichu Fan academician, Qidi Wu president and Gang Wan president. Before this, with the meeting with ex-academician Gang Fei, the professor has been asked his opinion about how to quicken the improvement of current civil engineering science level, and being asked to give the ex-academician¡¯s compliment to the council and all the members of Tongji Alumni Association in Germany. Recently, Andong Yu met his friends from the German Tongji Alumni Association in Shanghai.
